Coach Hannula has coached and managed numerous international teams including the Olympics and Pan American Games, served as commissioner of the Goodwill Games, and was president of ASCA. He is the all-time winningest high school coach as he led Wilson High School (Tacoma, WA) to 24 consecutive Washington state high school championship and 323 dual meets without a loss. Dick authored Coaching Swimming Successfully and co-edited The Swim Coaching Bible Volume 1 and 2 with Nort Thornton. He has given ISCA permission to share over 160 of his articles and interviews with our readers.
Coach Mark Schubert is back as the Head Coach of the world renowned Mission Viejo Nadadores (CA) where he won 44 national team championships from 1972-1985. In between Schubert coached the Mission Bay Makos (Boca Raton, FL) where he won his original departure, Schubert won national team championships at Mission Bay Makos (FL) won 9 national teams championship. He later coached at , the University of Texas and the University of Southern California where he won several NCAA team championships. Mark moved on to serve as USA Swimming’s national team director and head coach. Schubert has demonstrated coaching success at all levels – club, college, and international – unmatched by any in the history of the sport.
Faster Swimming through Education
Dr. Ernie Maglischo has revolutionized how swim coaches train their athletes. He holds a PhD in exercise physiology from the Ohio State University. Ernie coached swimming for 38 years, working at 4 universities and two swim clubs. He won 13 NCAA II national team championships and was voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented 8 times.
Ernie continues to donate his time and energy the sport. He recently granted ISCA the rights to use several of his articles and excerpts from his books.

Benefits of having a Swim School
Judy Bonning has been teaching and coaching for many, many years!! As a teenager, she taught for the YMCA and Red Cross in Tennessee. Later, while stationed overseas in Italy, Judy started a swim school and novice swim team. Fast forward and with several USA Olympic coaches as mentors, her love for developing the best technique for her swimmers brought her to Australia to run the prestigious Killarney Swim Centre for Carlisle Swimming. And now Judy, with her husband John, own the Billabong Swim School at the southern end of the Gold Coast where life is good and the love for teaching and coaching all ages continues!
